Duck Marsh

Morgan and Matthew went out for a day of swimming, walking, and duck watching.

Morgan was asleep at the very rainy duck marsh, but that didn’t stop the ducks from cozying up.

Pictures available here.

The Olympic Torch Relay

T

It was a great little bit of family time to start off the day on Matthew's 33rd birthday.  With all of that excitement Morgan was pretty wiped at the end.

We finished off the evening with homemade onion rings and beef ribs (don’t forget the all important chocolate cake!).

We had a great day all around!

SPARK

On Tuesday we took Morgan to her second SPARK class.
This is a fun and informative BC Literacy campaign to help raise awareness of the role reading plays in a childs’ development.

Morgan was a bit wee last time so didn’t get much floor time.  This time she got down and played with other kids.  She had a blast, except there was one girl who made her cry =(  (in her defense, the girl DID have an annoying voice).

She was so tuckered from all the excitement that she fell asleep in her swing.

In the last pictures here, you see her putting into practice her new-found Pythagorean skills by demonstrating how to correctly solve for c, the hypotenuse of a right triangle.

We also have been heavily using her day crib that Morgan’s Great Aunts Donna and Lois gave her.  It’s tough to get a good picture through the electrified mesh, but she’s happy in there!

6 Month Checkup

MP1180164

  1. She now weighs 17 lbs (!) (75th percentile)
  2. She now measures 27″ in length (75th percentile)
  3. Healthy as a [really healthy] horse

She also went to the optometrist for a checkup.  She was an absolute champ in the darkened room and didn’t mind the bright light in her eyes.  The only allowance that Dr. English had to make was to position himself in front of his screen-saver (that baby crack strikes again).  She has perfect, beautiful eyes (but of course, as her father, I already knew that).

Hallowe’en 2009

Morgan celebrated her first Hallowe’en in style:

She went as Nibbler from Futurama.  Perhaps a bit too nerdy as not too many people got it (except for the two 17 year old boys working in the produce section of Clayton’s).  She absolutely loved the attention and the little red cape.

Day With Daddy

BWith Daddy

eth was off to Metrotown today with Lisa for a bit of girl shopping, so Morgan got to spend the day with daddy.

We had an absolute blast, visiting Diane, Tina, and Terry at Gibsons Marina and then off to see Pat, Bill, and Darianne (and Rocky) at AAA Peninsula Septic.  We came back home after doing a bit of banking, polished off a bottle of milk, and had a nice nap.

Then spent some time in the Jolly Jumper (we took turns) and then off for a walk around the block.

More milk, more napping, some ad design for a new website, and then off to pick up mum at the ferry.

Here are some pictures:  (Full Picasa Album: here)

Day with Daddy

Our trip into Vancouver

Right now we have Matthew’s cousin, Lisa, from Germany staying with us.  We wanted to show her a little bit more excitement than can be found here in Sechelt so we headed in to Vancouver.

While the girls shopped the parents and the babies wandered the various stores letting the babies get to know each other.

After a lot of catching up we headed to the Sky Train station so we could meet Brandi.

It was great seeing Jon again and awesome to meet Brandi and Isobel.  We’ll have to make sure we don’t go as long without seeing each other again!

The only down part of the day was the ferry ride home.  The ferry was almost an hour late and we had a very upset little girl.  She was so cranky that Matthew spent the whole ferry ride pacing on the car deck with her to try and soothe her.

One Packed Saturday

UP1150717

9:00 am, out the door and on to a moving sale just up the street.  Bought a Baby Einstein CD, a colorful toy, and a small green dress for Morgan.

10:00 am, down to the Thrift Store (gotta find some ABBA clothes for Kathy's big shin dig next week).  Found some great shirts and tops that will funkify us perfectly.

11:00 am, off to the Craft Fair at Hackett Park.  What a showing!

Morgan’s Baby Shower @ Tracey’s

Yesterday we had some great family time.
shapeimage_1

We went to the Farmer’s Market in Sechelt and perused some of the local crafts on offer.  We picked up some artisan bread and oils, and some bath oils.

We also headed down to Gibson’s Marina and got to show off our little girl.

Then up to Molly’s Lane where we fell in love with a ton of local artists.

And then the grand finale… a Baby Shower to Welcome Baby Morgan at Tracey and Ken’s beautiful house.

What a turn-out!

Gudrun, Candy, Chuck, Kim, Darren, Rita, Grandma Mary, Jim, Sherry, Rebecca, Brielle, Tracey, Ken, Sierra, Taylor, Amanda, Shane, Kaden, Talia, Ashaya, Kathy, Holly, Roberta, and Alf.

The house looked amazing and the new patio and stairs were a real treat.

A night of music, food, wine, dress-up, and good talk… terrific!

First Month

Hard to believe but Morgan is now one month old today!

shapeimage_3

What an amazing month it has been.

Morgan’s Grandparents came to visit for a week and treated her like royalty.  We went for walks and hikes, we had photo shoots, and we had marathon feeding sessions (followed by epic diaper changing sessions).

Morgan made her first trip to Smugglers Cove on Thursday – and loved it!  She was an absolute delight and seemed to soak up the good weather.

Morgan had her 2nd checkup yesterday and she’s gained just over 10 ounces (in a week!).

She’s a happy baby.

Especially at 4 in the morning.

Victory!

This morning we arrived at Lions Gate Hospital to be greeted by the wonderful Patty and Ruby (the two Special Care Nurses who admitted Morgan 5 minutes after she was born).

shapeimage_1

We were promptly asked, “Did you bring your car seat?”

A faster dash to the parking level has never been made.

Morgan passed her car seat challenge (1 hour of sitting in her seat to ensure she is properly fitted and getting enough oxygen) and we were given the Royal Boot… woohoo!

We B-Lined it for the exit just in case they changed there minds.

3 hours at Horseshoe Bay (apparently there is some sort of Canada Day celebration coming up) and we were on our way!

I think half of the ferry stopped by and oohhed and ahhhed over our little girl… in other circumstances she’d be the ultimate chick magnet.

A quick stop at Pharmasave to say hello, let them know all was well, and we were on our way home.

H   O   M   E   !

What a glorious feeling – all together again.

(At times I felt like the farmer with the fox, chicken, and corn that all need to cross the river).

Morgan is absolutely a delight and we are just thrilled to be together.

So, 2 weeks and 1 day (and almost 3 weeks since our fateful Monday pre-natal checkup), we are finally reunited in the nursery that was built 3 months ago, following our wedding of 1 year ago, in the house that was bought 2 years ago, all for a little girl that FINALLY decides it’s time to come home.

And now it begins…P1130527P1130484P1130469

A Day With Our Girl

Tuesday, June 23rd: 2 weeks after Beth arrived at Lions Gate Hospital we returned for a day with our little girl. She is 12 days old.

shapeimage_1

We spent the day feeding, burping, bathing, and cuddling.

A better day I have never had.

The New Woman

A quick update on this, my first Father’s Day.

shapeimage_2

Morgan is doing fantastic… she’s putting on weight (Gobble Guts as Ross so aptly named her) (300 g over her birth weight), she has all of her monitors off, she has graduated to a bassinet, and she’s reached a healthy pink glow.

Her only real hurdle is getting her rhythm with suck, swallow, AND breathe.

Then she’ll be home with Mom and Dad and the real fun will begin.

Morgan Lily Grace Lehmann

What a week!

On Thursday, June 11th 2009 at 8:17 pm, we were blessed with the safe arrival of the beautiful Morgan Lily Grace Lehmann.

shapeimage_1

Weighing in at 5 pounds 1 ounce and just over 19 inches in length, she has striking blue eyes, a dark head of hair, soft blonde eyebrows and eyelashes, and long, delicate fingers.

Both mom and Morgan are recovering and will be home soon.
