Just Nuts

Today Morgan was feeding the squirrel some peanuts.  Grandpa told her to sit quietly (hard for a two year old) and hold the peanut out.  The squirrel cautiously approached and then, sensing only love and friendship calmly took the peanut from Morgan’s outstretched hand.  He came back numerous times to get more peanuts, but nothing can match the joy and surprise in her eyes when he took that first peanut from her.

Butterfly

Today something happened with Morgan that can only be described as miraculous.

We were outside in the gorgeous sunshine.  Morgan was sans clothes, as that is the best way to get potty trained.

It is also a really good way to get some vitamin D.  She was heavily sun tan lotioned up.   The lilies, pansies, and clematis were in sumptuous and heady bloom.

Morgan was playing on the front lawn in all this natural splendor, when a huge Monarch butterfly flew toward her.  Morgan’s eyes grew huge and she indicated she wanted to kiss and feed the butterfly.  I told her we should just let the butterfly come to her.  Well, it did.  Right to her, and lighted on a lily right at her hand.  It actually came right to her.

We have the most extraordinary pictures of a tiny, naked nymph feeding this glorious creature of nature.  They were a match made in Heaven.

Visit to the Marsh

We gave Morgan a bucket of bird seed, scattered a bunch at her feet, and then booted it.

We took a break in the day and all headed down to the duck marsh for a little bit of fun.

Ah, this is one childhood trauma that will just keep giving throughout the years.

February 2010

M

organ has been up to alot of things since we last posted.

We went out over to her Great-Grandma’s for a nice visit and then out to lunch at Daphne’s.  It was the first time that Morgan sat in a high chair!  It was very exciting for all of us, and Mommy even got a chance to eat her lunch while it was hot!!

Unfortunately we have all been sick here.  We’ve been trying to take it pretty easy but we have managed to go out for a few family walks.  Morgan is generally very serious on our walks, which is the total opposite of how she normally is.

On the 20th we finally got a high chair.  It has been wonderful.  Morgan seems to really like it.  She has really taken to feeding herself.  This morning for breakfast she made the decision that it was to be only finger food.  No more of being fed ceral by Mommy!  She really seems to be getting the hang of it.

Morgan has also been learning how to stand.  Not on her own just yet, but she is constantly trying to get to her feet.  She has even done a little bit of standing holding on to furniture.  It’s all very exciting!

Check out the pictures here.
